We´re going to share the secrets of how to get perfect results and no wrinkles when you iron your clothes. It´s all about technique and using the right tools.
Location
make sure you do your ironing in a light room. This ensures you can see any creases that need ironing.
Shake and smooth
as soon as you remove clothes from the line or dryer give them a vigorous shake. Then fold and smooth them. Doing this will help eliminate creases. It´s best to do your ironing as soon as possible as the longer you leave things the more likely creases you’ll get.
Iron damp
another tip is to iron clothes when they’re damp. Bone dry clothes crease more easily. You should take clothes for ironing off the line or out of the dryer while they’re still damp (not soaking wet). Iron them straight away or they’ll start to smell.
Steam
if you don´t have time to iron immediately you can always use the steam setting on your iron. If it doesn´t have one you can use a plastic bottle sprayer to spritz water on your clothes. Handy hint – why not add a couple of drops of scent to the water to make your clothes smell nice?
Technique
always iron with long slow strokes and even pressure. Gently push the point of the iron into crevices to avoid creasing those hard-to-iron areas like pockets. Iron around buttons and zips, not over them as this will cause creases and shine marks.
Sleeve ironing board
for perfect sleeves, collars, cuffs and pleats with no creases invest in a mini ironing board, known as a sleeve board. Some ironing boards come with these as accessories.
And finally, don´t forget to have a supply of hangers next to your ironing board. Hanging clothes on them immediately will avoid creases too. Happy ironing without wrinkles!
