Are you one of those people who only clean your kitchen cupboards once a year or do you do it more regularly? The kitchen is one of the most used rooms in the house and cupboards collect grease and grime without us noticing.
A thorough clean once in a while will keep your kitchen cupboards sparkling and hygienic.
First, gather the right equipment:
- warm soapy water
- rubber gloves
- dishcloths
- a light scourer
- baking soda and vinegar
- a gentle kitchen cleaner product
- clean towels
Now you’re ready to clean.
This isn't one of the most inviting jobs so we're going to show you how to do it efficiently so your cupboards gleam!
Put on your favourite music and ready, steady, go!
- Take everything out of the cupboards. Make sure you reach right to the back to find those hidden bags of flour and old cups.
- This is a great time to discard any kitchen items or old packets of food you’ll never use.
- Use warm soapy water to wipe the cupboard interiors. If you can remove shelves do so and clean them. Use a kitchen cleaning product that’s suitable for the material your cupboards are made of. For stubborn greasy marks and stains rub in a little baking powder and vinegar and gently scour.
- We don't advise using neat bleach in your kitchen cupboards as it can damage the surfaces and contaminate.
- Don't forget cupboard doors and handles. You can't always see them but they’re covered in grubby finger marks.
- Then dry the cupboards with a towel or kitchen roll and, if you have time, leave them open to air for a while.
Next comes the satisfying bit. Putting everything back in a neat and organised manner. Locate things you don't use often at the tops and backs of the cupboards and daily items within easy reach.
If crockery and cutlery feel a bit grubby put them in the dishwasher or wash them at the sink.
And while you’re at it, don't forget to clean splashbacks, worktops and walls. A quick wipe down will make them shine as brightly as your cupboards.
Follow this simple cleaning routine once every couple of months and your kitchen cupboards will always be fresh and grease-free.
