Staying on top of the cleaning means learning a few simple tricks. Keeping your home spic and span is easy if you dedicate some time each day to the essential jobs.
Here’s a list of what to clean every day.
- Countertops – clean as you go while preparing food and cooking. A quick wipe will save you time scrubbing later. It’s also handy to keep a counter-top bin on the surface for scraps. Then just empty it into the main kitchen bin when it´s full.
- Sinks – the perfect ground for bacteria. A spray and wipe once a day will keep things hygienic.
Coffee machine – empty and clean once you´ve made your coffee. The constant warm temperature is the perfect breeding ground for bacteria
- Mop the kitchen – keep your mop and bucket handy. A daily once-over will get rid of the germs we bring into the house on our feet. If you have pets it’s even more important to give the kitchen floor a daily mop.
- Bags – how often do you put your bag down on the floor in the office, a café or toilet? Think of all the bacteria it picks up. A daily wipe with an anti-bac cleaner is all it needs.
- Nightstand – wipe this once a day to keep the dust at bay. You sleep next to your nightstand. If it’s dusty think of all the dirt you´re inhaling as you sleep – yuck!
- Drains – a quick slosh of bleach (sink and outdoor) will keep any nasties under control. If you’d prefer the natural approach use white vinegar and lemon juice.
- And finally – make your bed as soon as you get out of it in the morning. There’s nothing more inviting than a freshly-made bed at night.
