Want to save on your energy bill? Check out these laundry savings tips.-1

The gas and electric bills are skyrocketing… Fortunately, you can do something yourself to keep your energy costs as low as possible.
With these saving tips becomes washing, drying, and ironing much cheaper. Plus: your clothes will stay beautiful!

LAUNDRY SAVING TIPS

Your washing machine costs water and energy, and your clothes wear of from washing. So, make sure your clothes don’t get dirty too quick: put on deodorant and perfume before getting dressed and take your work clothes off when you get home. You can use our Linn Clothing Rack for airing your clothes and you won’t get food stains. Still a stain? A washcloth and a little laundry detergent does wonders.

Extra saving tip: wait until the laundry basket is completely full. Laundry is cleaned better when the machine is full. Moreover, you can clean more clothes with the same amount of electricity! Our Bo Laundry bin is a beautiful laundry solution for your busy family home. You can also go for our Stackable Laundry Box. Stack them and create minimal floor space!

Your washing machine uses the most energy for heating the water. The solution: set it to 30 degrees. It is better for your clothes anyway. Only dishcloths and diapers need to be washed at 60 degrees because of the bacteria. Also be careful with detergent: too much detergent will damage your washing machine.

DRYING WITHOUT ENERGY COSTS

Dry your laundry on a clothesline, rotary dryer, or drying rack instead of a tumble dryer, can save about 4.5 kilowatt hours (kWh)  of energy per cycle. Drying outside is an ideal situation. Especially in summer, the sun and wind will help you to remove wrinkles. And they give your laundry a fresh sent like no other!

On dry days in autumn and winter it is still possible to dry your laundry outside. It is no problem if you have a balcony or a small garden: our WallFix Dryer can be fixed on the wall and has a space-saving solution. You can fold the Dryer against the wall when you’re not using it.

How about the rainy days? Is it still possible to save on your energy bill? The answer is: yes!
It is important to not hang your laundry over the heating. It is much better to invest in a big drying rack. Our smart HangOn Drying Rack with rod can hold up to three machine loads of laundry. And the Brabantia Tower Drying Rack has an incredible 23 metres of flexible drying space on just one square metre of floor. Last but not least we have our Linn Clothes Rack. This free-standing clothes rack is big enough for one machine load of laundry. Use it for airing, hanging or drying clothes in style.

Tip: place your drying rack in the sunniest and airiest part of the house for the best results. Even better if you can leave a window open. And rather use clothes pegs, instead of draping your laundry over the drying rack. Double layers will dry slowly and will wrinkle more. A peg is a peg, right? Think again! Brabantia’s Smart Clothes Pegs are 100% plastic, so no rust stains and no imprints.
